{Review} Word Vault

If you're looking for an incredibly comprehensive and versatile app, then Word Vault by Home-Speech-Home might be just what you're looking for!

This app includes 87 articulation word lists, 80 language word lists, 30 phonology words lists, and 26 social word lists!

Articulation lists run the gamete with word lists for every sound!

Here is a look at the articulation word lists.  Each can be arranged by place and can be arranged in various views!

I'm just going to put it out there... The language vault is ridiculous!  It includes lists for adjectives, adverbs, analogies, antonyms, categories, common first words, conjunctions, first 100 signs, following directions, homonyms, language concepts, longer narratives, multiple meaning words, object objection, prepositions, pronouns, sequencing, short stories, synonyms, wh questions, and verbs!  Simply amazing!

Here is an example of the synonyms word list.

And here are 3 step directions.  (The following directions tab also includes 1-step, 2-step, 3-step, 4-step, AND conditional directions!)

The phonology word lists include final KS words, final NK words, final PS words, final TS words, minimal pairs, and multisyllabic words!

Look at this super extensive list of minimal pair words!

Last, but not least is the social vault.

This vault includes activities to start conversations, discuss emotions, learn idioms, practice inferencing, understand jokes, problem solving scenarios, learn proverbs, and discuss social scenarios!  Here's an example of the inferencing activities.

This app is amazing!  I started using it a few days ago and have been using it in multiple sessions each day! It spans so many goal areas and is incredibly versatile!  In an update, I'd love to see a way to keep track of correct vs. incorrect responses in the app.

If you'd like to grab this app - it's only $9.99 - you can do so HERE!!

{Review} Articulation Test Center

Wow!  Is it possible that this speech pathologist has been rendered speechless by the "Articulation Test Center", an amazing app by Little Bee Speech?!  Pretty much!  But don't worry, I've collected myself and am ready to tell you all about this fantastic and ridiculously thorough app!

"Articulation Test Center" is perfect for back to school time or really any time of the year that you're looking to screen an artic/phono student or get a full assessment of their skills.

The screener allows you to determine if a child's speech is delayed or appropriate based on their age.

The full test allows you to customize the assessment based on individual needs.

I REALLY like this app, so let me show you some of my favorite features!

1) Yellow = approximation... Ever wonder how to indicate an approximated response?  Just tap the sound twice to turn the sound yellow, which indicates an "almost there, but not quite" production.

2) The record button.  This isn't a novel idea, but it's great for auditory feedback.

3) It tests vowels.  This is an area that I feel is lacking with other apps.

4) It provides ages that phonological processes typically disappear at, which is a great reminder!

5) Speech sample scenes.  Ever struggle to pull a speech sample out of a student?  These scenes have so much to talk about and various pictures even include additional prompts!  You can also record the speech sample to transcribe it later.

6) Extensive results.  Results include words tested, sound errors, sound substitutions, phonological processes marked, speech sample, report, and recommendations.

7) The pictures flip!  Such a great idea, considering our students typically sit across from us!

8) Recommendations for therapy.  Based on age, the app provides suggested therapy targets.

What I'd like to see in an update...  Considering the fact that we often work with more than one student at a time, I'd love for the app to automatically rotate between multiple students.  You can pause the assessments, but if it did this automatically, it would be more efficient.

Overall, this is a wonderful and very thorough app!  And here's the best news yet... Articulation Test Center (and Articulation Station Pro) will be 30% off August 12th-14th for Little Bee Speech's back to school sale!  Click on the links to learn more!

Do you have either one of these apps?  If so, what are your thoughts?
